After the winter storms many people find their gutters overflowing simply because of all the leaves and rubbish picked up by the wind and deposited in the gutters, causing blockages. These blockages may seem insignificant, but if left unresolved they can be the root cause of major water damage to a building, so at Integrity Window Cleaning we always recommend checking gutters twice a year, and find most properties require gutter cleaning every 12 to 18 months.

One particular gutter cleaning job we do regularly is on a 3 storey building in Ascot. This building is surrounded by mature pine trees, and the pine needles seem to lodge in the gutters more than normal leaves. When the pine needles start to rot in the gutters they matt together and seal across the top of the downspouts, stopping the water flowing away completely, so on this job it’s more important than most to keep on top of the issue and the customer has asked us to clean the gutters out twice a year.

The biggest challenge with this clean is the fact that the gutters are over 35ft high and there is no access for a cherry picker around most of the building. Scaffolding would be a huge task to put up and very expensive solution, so our client first spoke to us when searching for an alternative… and it’s an alternative we’d already been using for a number of years!

For high, and awkward access gutter cleans we use a GutterVac system. This is essentially an industrial strength wet-vac unit which is used in conjunction with rigid carbon fibre tubing to reach up to the gutters and clean them from ground level. The vacuum hose is connected to the bottom of the tube and the top of the tube is bent to reach overinto the gutter, allowing the debris, leaves, moss and pine needles to be vacuumed out with the operator standing firmly at ground level.

Because it’s impossible for the operator to see what is going on at the top of the pole, the system incorporates a wireless camera mounted at the top of the pole, and a battery powered screen mounted on the base of the pole, so we have a live view of the gutters while cleaning is in progress and can be sure that nothing gets missed. We can even record the video stream and burn a copy to DVD for your records if your insurance company requires this.

For this job in Ascot we also wash down the outside of the gutters, fascia and soffit after the gutters are unblocked, keeping the building looking pristine all year round. Again we used our high reach pure-water cleaning system to achieve this, so no scaffolding or cherry picker was required.

If you have high gutters that need cleaning, call us today. Our friendly staff will take a look at your specific needs and recommend the most cost effective cleaning method.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
