A conservatory in Godalming, Surrey that had seen years of organic build-up in the gutters and on the roof — moss growing along the ridge, green algae across the uPVC framework, and gutters blocked with debris. The customer wanted everything cleared properly before the season’s heavy rain.

The problem: blocked gutters and algae on the conservatory roof
Conservatory gutters sit in a tricky position — difficult to reach safely from the ground, but they collect debris, seed and organic matter faster than roof gutters because of the lower pitch and proximity to the garden. Once algae takes hold on the uPVC ridge and framework it darkens the whole structure, and blocked gutters cause overflow that can damage the surrounding patio or lead back towards the house wall.
What we did
- Cleared and flushed the conservatory gutters fully, removing all debris, leaves and organic build-up
- Soft-washed the conservatory roof panels and uPVC framework to remove algae and moss
- Cleaned the finial, ridge caps and edge trim which had heavy organic staining
- Left the gutters flowing freely and the whole conservatory looking fresh and white

The result
The conservatory came back to clean white throughout — the glass panels clear, the uPVC framework bright, the gutters flowing properly. On a Victorian-style conservatory like this the ridge finials and decorative detailing become a real feature again once the algae is removed. It’s a job that makes a significant difference to how the whole property looks from the garden.
