We use a gutter vacuum on long poles and work from the ground. It lifts out the moss, leaves and silt that build up in the bottom of the gutter, run by run, all the way round the house.
Then we check the downpipes. A clear gutter that drains into a blocked downpipe still overflows, so if water isn’t getting away, we clear the pipe as well.
Now and then a run has to be done by hand, an awkward corner, or a gutter packed so solid the vacuum can’t shift it. When that happens, we do it by hand rather than leave it half done.
