Patios and driveways go green and dark over a few years, mainly from algae, moss and weeds in the joints. This is what we do when we clean one, so you know what to expect.
The wash
We pressure wash the surface with a rotary surface cleaner. It cleans evenly and keeps most of the spray in. We clean up the spray from walls, doors and windows afterwards.
Different surfaces
Sandstone, porcelain, concrete and brick each need a slightly different approach. Sandstone is softer and soaks up dirt, so it’s cleaned more gently. Porcelain is harder and the dirt mostly sits on top.
Re-sanding block paving
Washing block paving takes some of the sand out of the joints. We brush kiln-dried sand back in afterwards, which helps hold the blocks in place and makes it harder for weeds to get in.
The treatment
Once it’s clean, we put a treatment down to slow the moss and algae coming back.
When to book
Late spring is the best time. We also clean decking, fences and garden walls if you want them done on the same visit.
